Dates: September 21-24, 2026
Meets: M, Tu, W and Th from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Cheyenne, WY)
Location: Laramie County Community College
Tuition: $795.00
Course Description: This course is designed for individuals interested in teaching the 10 and 30-hour General Industry Safety and Health Outreach training program to their employees and/or other interested groups. Using the OSHA General Industry Standards as a guide, special emphasis is placed on those topics required in the 10- and 30-hour programs as well as those which are most hazardous. Students are briefed on effective instructional approaches and use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows the student to become a trainer in the OSHA Outreach Training Program, to conduct both 10- and 30-hour General Industry Outreach classes, and to issue cards to participants after verifying course completion. Students who wish to participate as authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA General Industry Outreach Training Program topic individually or as part of a group and successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course.
Prerequisites: Students must successfully complete the OSHA #511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry within seven calendar years of attending the OSHA #501 Trainer course and have five (5) years of safety and health work experience in general industry. A degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation may be substituted for two (2) years of work-related experience. Students should obtain guidance on whether they meet this requirement from the OSHA Training Institute Education Center where they intend to receive the training. Authorized OSHA General Industry Outreach Training Program trainers are required to attend OSHA #503 Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers at least once every four (4) years to maintain their trainer status.
Required Documents: To request the required Prerequisite Verification Form, please contact 801-581-4055 or mountainwestosha@weber.edu . All required documentation must be submitted at least three weeks before the Trainer course you wish to attend to allow for adequate review time. Late submission of the required documents will result in a $100 late fee or potentially needing to enroll in a later course due to class size and/or enrollment cut-off.
Provide the following, ASAP:
1. Copy of OSHA #511 Standards Course Certificate
2. Copy of Driver's License
3. Prerequisite Verification Form
Notes:
RMCOEH FACILITY - PARKING NOTICE
Be aware that if you want a parking validation, you must park in the 250 parking garage structure, which is directly east of the 250 Tower Building where the Center is located. Do not park in the uncovered lot; we cannot validate vehicles parked outside of the garage.
When you park in the Tower 250 parking garage structure, scan the posted QR code to enter your parking information, including your license plate number and payment method. Your card will not be charged for the 9 hours of validated parking but will be charged if you stay past that time. Please enter all this information before you leave the parking lot, as you may need to return and complete it if not done correctly the first time. Completing all of the aforementioned steps prior to leaving the garage will also ensure you do not get charged if you have used a Metropolis parking lot in the past.
We strongly recommend arriving @ least 15 minutes before the start of the course to give yourself enough time to find parking, check in, and be ready to start the class promptly at 8 am.
For this course, your materials will be made available to you digitally via our Instructure Canvas platform. If you would like to access your materials in class, we recommend that you bring a tablet or a laptop.
