Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene
COURSE OBJECTIVESThe objective of this course is to provide detailed knowledge of the principles and concepts of industrial hygiene. Using the traditional approach, the course teaches industrial hygiene from the recognition, evaluation and control aspects, and looks at the regulatory aspects as well. This knowledge and provided information, the enrollee can recognize, evaluate, and control occupational health hazards in the workplace. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
• Know the history and formation of the practice of industrial hygiene
• Understand the anatomy, physiology, and pathology associated with industrial hygiene exposures
• Use industrial hygiene concepts to recognize potential health hazards
• Evaluate health hazard exposures to workers
• Effectively control worker health hazard exposures and reduce illnesses
• Develop an effective approach for implementing an industrial hygiene program
