OSH Practioners Workshop
This course is geared towards any OSH professional who would like to apply the scientific method to problem solving in their workplace. Activities include:- Collecting and synthesizing research studies/findings (NIOSH HHEs, literature, white papers, and reports)
- Objectively evaluating OSH interventions including PPE and safety equipment
- How to handle limited data (i.e., traditional OSH statistics for small and medium employers are often meaningless)
- Determination and “harnessing” of leading OSH indicators
- Generalizing both problems and solutions to increase the impact of solutions
- Where and how to seek help from government agencies and universities
- Incorporation of lean engineering principles to the practice of OSH (continuous improvement, sustaining improvements, methods/means by which employees can be involved in improvements)
- Case studies and solution generation activities to teach collaborative OSH solution generation
- Opportunities for participants to suggest areas to demonstrate the principles taught with their own examples/problems/concerns
